Slightly calmer but no less sharp than their first two records (Take the two parts of Drunk as examples), the third album from @mannequinpussy, Patience, is our record of the day.

Their longest record by 25%, the relatively short nature of their records adds to the quality of them rather than detracting. In fact many bands could do with taking notice and realise that it’s OK to release shorter records if that makes the end product better than it would otherwise be.

Ladies (or at least female fronted bands) are (thankfully!) dominating this year’s music for me by and large and this is a perfect example of why. Coming soon on this here Insta will be a band by band of the Florence day at British Summer Time. Every act bar one was female or female fronted and every act was great in their own way putting paid to the idea that 50/50 is perfectly attainable on festival line ups. Oh and that act that was male? The National with no fewer than 4 female guest vocalists for most of the set, in keeping with their latest album.

I think MP are due to become festival mainstays amongst the billing. I’m looking forward to seeing them in November at their London show for sure! (Need to get those tickets sorted ASAP!)

Highlights: Drunk II, Drunk I, Who You Are, Clams
